TORPEDO BOMBERS
N.Z. UNIT IN BRITAIN FORMATION WELCOMED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. In addition to the New Zealand bomber and fighter squadrons operating in the United Kingdom, a New Zealand torpedo-bomber squadron has now been established. In announcing this to-day, the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, stated that the new unit was formed on August 12 under the Empire air training agreement. “I am sure that New Zealanders will welcome the formation of yet another Dominion unit in the United Kingdom,” said Mr. Jones. “The New Zealand bomber and fighter squadrons have already established a magnificent record, and the new squadron will undoubtedly add to our air tradition. To date 118 officers and airmen from New Zealand have won awards for courage. outstanding service and devotion to duty,” he said, and added that all wished the new squadron .good luck and good hunting.
