MAORI ENLISTMENTS
EASTERN RECORD t :• ■ iw.Maori enlistments in the. Eastern Maori electorate are four to each one from the three other Maori electorates put together, it was reported by the chairman. Bishop Bennett, at a meeting of the Heretaunga Maori recruiting organisation. The denominations of the enlisted men were stated to be 231 Anglican, 5G Roman Catholic, 30 Ratana, 23 Mormons, 23 Ringatu, 10 Methodist, seven Presbyterian, one Salvation Army, one Seventh Day Adventist , one Lutheran, and 21 unaccounted. The following resolutions were confirmed: —(1) That Maoris aged 18 to 45 years be accepted for overseas service; (2) that the names of all shearers handed to the Sheai'ers’ Union representative, Mr. Bob Tutaki, be submitted to a committee; (3) that a list of all Maoris enlisted in the Territorial and Home Guard be obtained.
