TRANSFER TO JAPAN
AXIS BUSINESS FILES LATIN AMERICA (Reed. Aug. 19, 10 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Aug. 18. Confidential cablegrams to the United States Department of Commerce reveal that Axis business firms are quitting South America and shipping their files and records to Japan. Twelve Japanese ships are reported to have called at west coast and Latin American ports last week and to have loaded hundreds of crates of books and papers of firms whiqh have been frozen or black-listed by the United States.
