RELIEF IN LONDON
AIR RAID DISTRESS OVER £1,500,000 SPENT (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 11.45 a.m. RUGBY, Aug. 18. In a broadcast appeal to-night in connection with the Lord Mayor’s national air raid distress fund, the Lord Mayor of London, Sir George Wilkinson, stated that since the fund started last September well over 100,000 families had received help and more than £1,500,000 had been spent on grants of cash in providing food, clothing and furniture.
