SCHOOLS HOCKEY
DOMINION TOURNEY TEAM FROM GISBORNE Fourteen teams have entered for the New Zealand secondary schools hockey tournament to be held in Wellington next week, commencing on Monday and concluding on Saturday. The Gisborne High School will be represented, and the team will leave in the early hours of Saturday morning to connect with the 8.3 S a.m. railcar from Wairoa, allowing the boys to reach Wellington the same afternoon. The Gisborne team is regarded ns a strong one, including seven players from last year, when Gisborne was defeated by only Auckland Grammar and Mount Albert Grammar. Therefore, Gisborne is expected to put up a good performance again this year. Twelve !earns took part last year. The following Hi comprise the Gisborne players to take part next week: It. Watts, li. Hewitson. P. Pohnlu, K. Ota, S. Wills, G. Cassia, J. Kuos, I). Kia, Murray. M. Kemp, J. Martin, W. Ferris and K. Harvey. The coach, Mr. G. W. Laaghorne, will accompany the team, the members of which are to lie billeted in Wellington. The matches will bo played bn Newtown Park, Kilbirnie Recreation Ground, and tile Wellington College ground. Teams entered are as-follows:—Auckland Grammar School, Mt. ' Albert Grammar School, Howick District High School, Hamilton Technical High School, Gisborne High School, Wanganui Technical College, Stratford Boys’ High School (2), Palmerston North Boys High School, Wairarapa College, ic icwamutu boys' Hign School, Wellington College, Kongotai College, and Wellington Technical College.
