TE KARAKA NEWS

ADDITIONS AT SCHOOL (Herald Cor respondent.) At the monthly meeting of the Te Karaka District High School Committee the headmaster, Mr. T. M. Archer, reported that as a result of the circular issued the consumption of milk had risen from 80 bottles to between 120 and 133 per day. It was stated that the manual training rooms were completed and the additions to the secondary department finished except for plumbing and minor electrical work. The committee resolved to apply to the Hawke’s Bay Education Board for a grant to improve the grounds. Committee members present were Messrs. J. W. Nisbett, chairman, T. M. Askew, C. G. Atkins, F. G. Bellerby, J. D. Clark, S. R. Currie, R. D. Dymock, S. S. Smithers and P. Hardacre. The medical and nursing committee formed in Te Karaka under the emergency precautions scheme is arranging to buy material for dressings, and a start will be made to prepare them at an early date. A competition to raise funds for the committee's work was won by Mrs. Titus, Whatatutu.
