TREATIES PREPARED
AMERICA AND EMPIRE DEALING WITH DISPUTES (Reed. Aug. 14, 2.50 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Aug. 13. Supplementary treaty of conciliation and advancement of peace between the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Australia were ratified at a conference attended by the United States Secretary of State, Mr. Cordell Hull, the British Ambassador, Viscount Halifax, the representative of the British Cabinet in the Far East, Mr. A. Duff Cooper, the Australian Minister, Mr. R. G. Casey, and the Canadian Charge d’Affaires. The treaties are designed to replace the one general pact with Britain, made in 1914, which then included the Dominions as subsidiaries. The new pacts provide for separate conciliation commissions for each Dominion in relation to the United States in the settlement of disputes among the signatories.
