HAWKE’S BAY VISIT
ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TRANSPORT DIFFICULTIES II was decided at the fortnightly meeting of tiie Poverty Bay Football Association to communicate with the Hawke’s Bay Football Association asking it to send its schoolboys' team through at the same time as the Hawke's Bay United team, which is to play the Gisborne Mercantile team in Gisborne in September. A letter was received by the association from the Hawke’s Bay association explaining the difficulties it was experiencing in arranging transport for the team which is to travel to Gisborne. The schoolboys' coach, Mr. J. McLean, reported that a provisional team of schoolboys had been selected and it was decided to hold a series of Possibles v. Probables matches during the school holidays, when the ordinary competition games might be suspended. After a discussion of the financial position of the association, it was decided to enforce strictly the ruling that only financial players should be considered for selection in representative matches. The following fixtures were made for Saturday, August IB:—Senior.—Mercantnle v. Thistle, referee. Mr. Waugh. Junior.—Old Boys v. Kaiti; Mangapapa ■v. Central, referees, Messrs. Branson and Jury, linesmen, Messrs. McLean and Simmons. Those present at the meeting were Messrs. W. Parkin, chairman, J. McLean, W. Simmons, J. Watt, J. Harrison, and M. A. Nixon, hon. secretary.
