PETROL CONSUMPTION
PROVISION OF LICENSES OBLIGATIONS OUTLINED Following the announcement regarding a reduction in the amount of motor spirits available by license, the chief postmaster in Gisborne, Mr. A. M. Robertson, advises that records of licenses have been withdrawn from all resellers’ stations and licensees are not legally entitled to purchase further supplies until their licenses have been adjusted. The licenses should be presented at the oil fuel counter or may be posted to the sub-district oil fuel controller. Every endeavour will be made to make adjustments while the licensees wait, but if the congestion is too great the licenses may be left to be dealt with after normal business hours for posting back by the first available mail. It will not be possible to discuss appeals during the rush period, and appeals must be sent in writing for consideration by the local advisory committee. “License-holders are requested to accept the cut in a generous spirit as a contribution they can make towards the national effort,” stated Mr. Robertson. “In amending licenses every endeavour will be made to guard against licenses being reduced below the margin required to effect the minimum saving in consumption required in this area.”
