DEFENSIVE TACTICS

HOME GUARD PARADES ORDERS FOR THE WEEK Work based mainly on defensive tactics, together with training associated with it, is to be undertaken by units of the Gisborne Borough Battalion of the Home Guard this week. Parades set down in routine orders for the week are as under: To-morrow. —A Company, Williams and Kettle’s wool store, 7.30 p.m.; B Company, Dalgety’s wool store, 7.30 p.m.; C Company, Sheepfarmers’ wool store, 7.30 p.m.; E Company, Abercorn Hall, 7.30 p.m.; Headquarters’ Signallers, High School, 7.30 p.m.; Headquarters’ Medical, Central School, 7.30 p.m.; Headquarters’ . Motor-cyclists, New Zealand Insurance Company’s building, 7 p.m.; Engineers, Intermediate School, 7.30 p.m.; Bowser Section, Sheepfarmers’ wool store, 7.30 p.m.; Band, Sargood’s building, 7.30 p.m. Sunday.—A Company, Waikanae Beach, end of Stanley road, 9 a.m.; B Company, Waikanae Beach, next gaol, 9.30 a.m.: D Company, Allen Bros, and Johnstone’s, all-day parade. 8.45 a.m.; E Company, corner Awapuni and Stanley roads, 9 a.m.; Engineers, Victoria Domain, 9 a.m. Monday.—Transport, Williams and Kettle’s wool store, 7.30 p.m.

Transfers announced are as follows: R. Anderson, C Company to Battalion Headquarters; L. H. Tawhiti, Headquarters Company to Whakatane; Sam Renata, E Company to Opotiki. The orderly officer for the week is Mr. M. R. Fry, and next for duty will be Mr. A. G. Cairns.
