MIDDLE EAST COMMAND SIR A. LONGMORE’S POST trjie'?. Tel. Copyright United Prom Aim,) (British Ofiicial Wireless.) Heed. 2.50 p.m. RUGBY, June 2. The appointment of Air Chief Marshal Sir A. M. Longmore to be Inspector-General of the Royal Air Force in succession to Air Marshal Sir W, G. S. Mitchell is one of the several higher command changes announced by the Air Ministry. Sir Arthur Longmore has been in Britain since the beginning of May advising the Air .Ministry on air problems in the Middle East. His place in the Middle East is taken by Acting Air Marshal A. W. Tedder, who lias been his second in command in the Middle East since last November. Acting-Air Marshal Tedder is promoted temporarily to the rank of air marshal.
Other appointments include Air Vice-Admiral A. T. Harris, seconded for special duty and granted the acting rank of air marshal, Air ViceMarsal N. H. Bottomley to be Deputy Chief of the Air Staff. Air ViceMarshal R. M. Drummond to be deputy air officer commanding in the Royal Air Force in the Middle East. Sir Arthur Longmore, and Air ViceMarshal Sir W. G. S. Drummond Mitchell are all Australian born.
