DUTCH PLANE GIFTS
BOMBERS AND FIGHTERS MAY AVENGE ROTTERDAM (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, May 29. Wearing pilot wings on his air force uniform, Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, speaking in London, stated that the fund named after him which was subscribed by Free Nether landers everywhere, had now reached £1,200,000. The fund had enabled them to buy 32 bombers manned by Dutch crews and operating from England. A further 72 fighters had been presented to the British Government at the request of the Indies. Nine bombers had been named “Rotterdam,” and it was-hoped they would do something to avenge the unspeakable-act - of— vandalism. Another bomber would be named “Flying Dutchman.”
