PARADE AT NUHAKA

UNIT COMPLIMENTED (Herald Correspondent.) The Nuhaka Home Guard parade was well attended, 117 answering the roll call. Mr. A. F. Rolland, company commander, was in charge of the parade, which was visited by Major J. D. Scott, area commander, Captain J. H. Turnbull, area adjutant of the Home Guard, Napier, and Mr. F. H. Carnie, adjutant. Lectures and signalling instruction took place in the L.D.S. supper room. Major Scott complimented the unit on the smart manner in which they turned out at the Anzac Day parade in Wairoa and at Nuhaka in the afternoon. Captain Turnbull also congratulated the company, stating he had heard quite a number of complimentary remarks passed. He was also glad to be able to inform guardsmen that the impressment of .303 rifles was now taking place. Any man wrongfully withholding a rifle was doing a disservice to the Home Guard, and should be reported, said Captain Turnbull. Ammunition was now available as soon as rifle instruction had been completed. Members of the W.W.S.A. corps again supplied afternoon tea.

Mr. Rolland . reminded the Home Guard of the dance to be held on Thursday night, under the auspices of die W.W.S.A. corps in aid of Home Guard funds.
