SERIOUS SHORTAGE
FOOD FOR POULTRY BIG CUT IMMINENT (British Official Wireless.) Reed. noon. RUGBY, Feb. 28. The Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Tom Williams, announced that the feedingstuffs situation, especially as far as cereals are concerned, is serious and that it will be necessary to make a further cut in supplies on April 1. Details of the arrangements, he said, will be announced as soon as possible, but he feared it inevitable that a further and very drastic cut will have to be made in the supplies issued for poultry-keepers’ rations. The supplies for April will be sufficient to provide a full ration for only one-sixth of the laying flocks of poultry kept on June 4. 1939.
