LAND VALUATION
GREY STREET CLOSURE GAS COMPANY PURCHASE A valuation of £2(52 10s was submitted to the Gisborne Borough Council last night in respect of a strip ol road fronting the Gisborne Gas Company’s property which the company sought to purchase from the council, involving the closure of that side of the road at the river end. The valuation was submitted by Mr. F. R. Ball, whom the council had appointed as its valuer in the matter, and it was pointed out that the section of road involved was over four chains in length and had an area of 34.98 perches. It was pointed out by the borough engineer, Mr. E. R. Thomas, that the removal of the underground services, at the expense of the company, was estimated to cost over £2OO. The • council agreed to sign the transfer of the land to the company. An improvement of the footpath at that end of Grey street was advocated in a letter from Mr. J. Weston, who wrote that the path was in a deplorable cohdition and dangerous at night. The Mayor, Mr. D. W. Coleman, M.P., stated that the inspection committee was preparing a report on the path, and consideration of the letter was deferred pending submission of the report
