MAGNIFICENT GIFT
NEW ZEALAND FORCES AMBULANCES & CANTEENS NEW YORK COMMITTEE (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Warm appreciation of the offer of the Anzac war relief fund in New York to give 20 ambulance cars and five mobile canteens to New Zealand’s armed forces, has been expressed by •the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, who has received particulars of the donation. Fifteen ambulance cars are for the use of the N.Z.E.F. in Egypt and five for the army in New Zealand. Five mobile canteens are to be built to specifications of the National Patriotic Fund Board and shipped to Suez. It is expected that the ambulance cars will be shipped from New York next month. Advice of the offer was first conveyed in a cablegram from the treasurer of the Anzac war relief fund, New York, to Mr. E. A. Jones, general manager for New Zealand of the Vacuum Oil Company. The Minister, in a letter to Mr. Angus, states: “This is a magnificent ’effort on the part of the Anzac war relief fund committee, New York, and I should be glad if you would convey to the committee tne very sincere thanks of the New Zealand Government. I am communicating with Major-General B. C. Freyberg to inform him of the position, and I have no doubt/he in turn will communicate direct with the committee in New York. I would also like to convey to you personally my thanks and the thanks of the New Zealand Government for your efforts in this connection.”
