VANGUARD MOVES BULGARIAN PATH CHECK BY. RAIN ’DROMES WATERLOGGED PROMISE TO SOFIA (Elec. Tel. Copyright-—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Feb. 28, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 27. It was reported from Sofia last night that the Bulgarian Cabinet met at an emergency session after a conference between the Prime Minister, M. Popoff, the Foreign Minister, M. FilofT, and the Chief of Staff, General Petkoff. The Budapest correspondent of the American international news service says that reports received in Budapest from Sofia yesterday stated that 12,000 German troops entered Bulgaria from Rumania, forming the vanguard of 120,000 soon to stream across the Danube for confronting Greece.
Torrential rain has fallen m the west of Bulgaria during the last 24 hours and is likely to waterlog Sofia s two airports, delaying the arrival of 100 German fighters which were promised as a “protection against British and possibly Turkish raids which the Bulgars were told to expect.
The Belgrade correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says that a considerable number of German naval ratings have arrived at Vienna, Linz and elsewhere in Austria. Their destinations are variously conjectured as the Danube, the Black Sea, and the Adriatic.
