Last Night’s Forecast General Situation.—An anticyclone remains more or less stationary to the north, while a series of westerly depressions is passing in the south.. Forecast. Winds: Westerly to northerly prevailing, with a temporary south-westerly change probable later in the far south; moderate to strong almost generally, and reaching gale force at times in exposed positions south of Wanganui and Napier. Seas: In New Zealand waters, moderate inshore on the East Coast; rough elsewhere. Eastern Tasman Sea: Winds from a westerly quarter, moderate in the northern position, with moderate seas; strong in central and southern positions, with rough seas. Weather; Changeable in districts with a westerly aspect and in the far south, with scattered rain; mainly fair to fine cast of the ranges and in the far north; mild temperatures, but becoming cooler later in the south. To-day’s North Island Report Overcast conditions in the north and south, but blue skies with some cloud in eastern districts, were reported to-day, when light to strong westerly breezes prevailed.
