VERY LITTLE DAMAGE
RECENT HEAVY RAIN COOK COUNTY ROADS Reporting on road and bridge work done during the oast month. Mr. J. Gunn, county overseer, stated at today’s meeting of the Cook County Council that heavy rain did very little damage, but held up grading on clay roads. All the gravel roads in 'he county were in fair order. “An area of li acres at Waimnla has been fenced and planted for a plantation,” said Mr. Gunn. “Twelve acres near the Waercnga-o-kuri School also have been completed. Thirty acres of scrub at Ruakakn have been cleared and planting will be finished next week. If possible, I would like to have the remaining 3(1 notes of scrub cut and burnt sometime in March as spring clearing does not allow time for planting." The contractors for the formation and culverting of 2 miles 7 chains, Newman's road, Ngakaroa, Messrs. Mclntosh and Brooking, were making good progress. Owing to insufficient money being granted, one temporary bridge in place of a culvert would bo necessary to give settlers access when formation was completed.
