MAJESTIC THEATRE LAST DAY: “THE MAN FROM DAKOTA” AND “LONDON’S REPLY TO GERMAN CLAIMS” Set in America's turbulent Civil War' period, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s exciting drama, “The Man from Dakota," with Wallace Beery, concludes to-night. Dolores Del Rio has the feminine lead. The supporting programme is headed by a “Pete Smith Speciality” entitied “Cats' College." and the film that, was flown from England at (he rate of 1000 miles a day These pictures were taken by a neutral- observer and are entitled "London’s Reply to German Claims." —To-Morrow “Angels Wash Their Faces” and “Bad Lands”— Distinctly'on the side of good citizenship. though still tough and still aggresive, arc the “Dead End Kids” in their latest picture. "The Angels Wash Their Faces,” which comes to the Majestic Theatre to-morrow, with an imposing cast. In addition to the partial reformation of the “Dead Enders” the production is also notable for the fact that it provides Ann Sheridan, now known to fame as the “oomph" girl, with her first sympathetic role since her elevation to stardom. In addition to the “Dead Enders," other fine juvenile performers are in the cast of the picture. They include Frankie Thomas. Bonita Granville and Jack Searl. In the course of the story, the group of youngsters portrayed by the “Dead End Kids" are not only consistently on the side of the law but are mainly responsible for bringing to justice as foul a group of adult malefactors as has ever perpetrated cruel and heartless deeds of villainy in any motion picture. Arson is just one of the crimes to which this band, headed by Ciannelli, has recourse as a means of easy money. How 10 men swear to avenge a young bride murdered by a half-breed Indian, only to separately fall victim themselves, provides the gripping basis of RKO Radios “Bad Lands,” the associate attraction. Laid in South-Eastern Arizona in frontier days, the absorbing story is a realistic document of the winning of the west of the United States. The programme will include the serial, “Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe."
