Napier Harbour Works
It was reported to the Napier Harbour Board this week that to April :iO, expenditure on the Napier breakwater harbour scheme totalled £508,947. The cost of dredging had reached £200.000. The breakwater extension shown at £80,955. No. 0 wharf at £144.088. No. 4 wharf at £42,559 (including £9237 stocks on hand), and railways reclamation and roads £24.301. The construction of flic breakwater extension is completed, according to the monthly report by the engineer, Mr. - C. H, Davis. The cost of this work to April 30 was shown in the financial summary as £80,955. During the greater part of the month the dredge Whakarire was'engaged in deepening the basin between numbers 3 and 4 wharves to 30ft at low water, the material removed being papa. Piles in the first five piers of No. 4 wharf , were driven.
