RECORD TERM SET BY HOTELKEEPER?
Believed to have set a New Zealand record by her long occupation of One hotel, Mrs Mary Jane Bergstrom died at Hokitika yesterday. Aged 82 years, Mrs Bergstrom had held the licence of the Marquis of Lome hotel, Hokitika, for just on half a century. It is believed in Greymouth that this is the longest term served in any single hotel in New Zealand, though, it is understood, a record was claimed recently by a Kaikohe hotelkeeper who had also served a long period as licensee of a hotel.
