STEELWORKERS WANT ‘MUTUAL AGREEMENT’
NEW YORK, September 22 (Rec 10.30 ' a.m.).—The ■ Steelworkers’ Uriipn has agreed to the proposal by President Truman to extend the truce in ; the steel industry-until October 1. The companies; have already agreed and the threatened strike is thus postponed at least six days. The union’s president, Mr Philip Murray, telegraphed President Truman saying that the union would immediately meet the. companies in collective bargaining,, aimed at concluding a mutually satisfactory agreement before October 1..
