EMERGENCY WAR PLANTS IN UNITED STATES
NEW YORK, Sept. 21—The United States Secretary of Defence (Mr Louis Johnson) said tonight that the Defence Department has put about two-thirds of its war plants in readiness to meet more international emergencies. He added that the department had built 1595 of these plants during the war. , ~ . “We are allocating production to private industrial plants so , that our suppliers will know in advance what we- expect them to produce in an emergency,” he said. “Our plans are designed to give America maximum security, without militarising our nation or bankrupting oiir economy.”
