HEALTH MINISTER AND EQUIPMENT FOR GREY HOSPITAL
[SPECIAL TO STAR] WELLINGTON, This Day.—The purchase of washing machines for the Old People’s Home and the Grey Hospital-' was under investigation, stated the Minister of Health, Miss Howard, in the House of Representatives yesterday in a written reply to a question addressed to her by Mr E. B. Corbett (National Party, Egmont). Mr Corbett had asked the Minister whether her attention had been directed to a report in the Greymouth Evening Star of August 10, which stated that the purchase of five washing machines! for the Old People’s Home and the Grey Hospital, and approved for inclusion in- the estimates, was vetoed by the Health Department, and whether she would state whether the refusal was a departmental one or a policy ruling? Miss Howard replied that the purchase had .-not been vetoed and the proposition was under investigation at the present time.
