HOME BUILDING RESTRICTIONS: LIFTING ADVOCATED
WELLINGTON, This Day (PA.). —Everyone concerned must have welcomed the recent indication by the Minister of Works, Mr Semple, of the probable easing of building controls and restrictions, said the president of the New Zealand Builders’ Federation, Mr R. C. Love. Builders hoped to see a complete lifting of the restrictions on residences, he added. No one took exception to a person purchasing a £5OOO luxury motorcar. Why should there now be any restriction in the building of homes? he asked. The number of luxury homes must be limited by the price factor and should not make any appreciable difference to the supply of materials, said Mr Love. i, ’ V He said he also hoped that ti" present restrictions on maintenance or replacement work would be entirely lifted and that the Government would agree to issue permits for more commercial and industrial buildings.
