PIG HUNTER LOST IN BUSH FOR TWO DAYS

NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept. 20 (P.A.) —Losing his bearings when pig hunting on Sunday afternoon in thick virgin bush a few miles from Ruamata, Mr Milroy Sulfa, a bush worker at Ruamata, did not make contact with one of two search parties until this afternoon. Apart from fatigue and hunger, he was little the worse for his experience, in spite of the rigours he faced during two days and two nights in the bush. Leaving his home at midday on Sunday, Mr Sulfa realised his predicament about four hours later, when he attempted to join his four dogs which had found a pig some distance ahead. After plunging through the bush and failing to find the dogs, he lit a fire and waited for dawn. So dense was the fog on Monday that he was unable to make any headway, and at daybreak today he climbed to a high ridge, from which he saw an opening in the bush and decided to make for it. When about four, miles from Ruamata he met one of two search parties comprising bushmen from Ruamata and neighbouring bush camps.
