Mr H. M. Christie has been appointed, one o f the representatives of the New Zealand Wool. Board, according to a Gazette notice. —(P.A.) Mr R. Newton has been appointed part-time evening instructor in homecraft studies at the Greymouth Technical High School. Mr H. Lovell, who has held the position of president of the blub for the last 18 years, was elected a life member of the Westport Trotting Club at the annual meeting this week. Tributes were paid by members to Mr Lovell’s long service to the club and to his excellent guidance. Mr Lovell did not seek re-election, Mr W. H. Roche being elected in his place as president. Three Auckland vicars have been appointed to canonries. They are the Rev. F. C. Truman, vicar of Ellerslie, the Rev. R. J. Stanton, vicar of Devonport, formerly an honorary canon, and the Rev. D.' S. Millar, vicar of Takapuna. They will succeed Canons F. W. Young, C. A. B. Watson, and R. G. CoatS.—(P.A. )

The National Party has selected Mrs Berta Sinclair Burns as its candidate for the Brooklyn electorate, at presentrepresented by the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser). Mrs Burns left the teaching profession for journalism in Christchurch.
