OBITUARY Mr Daniel L. Maloney
The death occurred at Westport yesterday afternoon of Mr Daniel Lawrence Maloney aged 75 years. He was born at Addison’s Flat. He was a member of the Buller Progress League, the Druids and Buffalo Lodges and formerly of the Westport Fire Brigade. He leaves beside his wife, two sons, a daughter, and a number of grandchildren. A brother, James lives at Wellington and a sister at Auckland. The funeral will leave the residence tomorrow afternoon for St Canices Church and thence for the Orowaiti Cemetery. Miss Eileen M. McGeady The death occurred late last evening at Greymouth of Miss Eileen Mary McGeady, of Doyle street, Blaketown. Born at Reefton 36 years ago, she came to Greymouth with her parents Mr and Mrs P. A. McGeady as a child and she had spent the greater part of her life in the district. She had resided at Wellington for six years but returned to Greymouth two years ago. Miss McGeady is survived by her parents, five brothers, Jack and Athol (Haast, South Westland), James and Leslie (Greymouth) and George (Blackball) and one sister Mrs L. Temperley (Blaketown). The funeral will take place at the Karoro Cemetery on Monday morning, following Requiem Mass at St Patrick’s Church.
Bro. Gonzales Fraser The death occurred at Melbourne yesterday, at the age of 66 years, of Brother Gonzales (Sim) Fraser, formerly of Greymouth. Bro. Fraser left Greymouth in 1900 to join the Marist Brothers and taught for a time at Napier. He left for Australia in 1905, where he taught at Hunter’s Hill (Sydney) , Glenelg, South Australia, and at Assumption College in Victoria. Ero. Gonzales is survived by three brothers, John Courtney (Reefton), Jack (Sydney) and Vincent Wairoa).
