DOMESTIC STAFF AT HOSPITAL RESIGNS EN BLOC

WHANGAREI, This Day (P.A.).— The domestic staff of the Hokianga Hospital has resigned en bloc. The hospital is without domestics, whose work is being done by the nursing staff. A decision has been reached to admit- only emergency patients to the hospital in the meantime. Certain patients capable of being nursed at home have been sent home.

It is believed that this situation has arisen as a result of a discussion last week by the Hokianga Hospital Board of problems arising out of the finding of men fti the domestics’ home. The domestics, of whom there were more than a dozen on the hospital staff, did not appear for duty yesterday morning and later sent their resignations as a group to the board.

The board chairman said today that the board intends to proceed forthwith to obtain improved accommodation for a new domestic staff and thus hope to be able to prevent a recurrence of this trouble.
