ILLEGAL FLIGHTS TO PALESTINE: BRITISH PLANES
(Rec. 9.40 a.m.) LONDON, April 25. A New Zealander was one of four men fined £5O each today in Buckinghamshire on each of two summonses in connection with the flying of British Beaufighter planes to Palestine. The New Zealander was Brian John George Carbury, of Surrey, and the others were Oliver Armstrong, of Surrey, William Collins, of London, and John Harvey, of London.. All pleaded guilty to taking off from a British airport in contravention of the Customs Regulations, but not guilty to being exporters of the aircraft. The men were alleged to have flown the planes from England to Palestine by way of Corsica and Jugoslavia. Three of them got each and the fourth said he was not paid for the flight.
