Sail Plane Towed Three Hundred Miles

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. A sail plane enthusiast from Australia, Mr - A. Hardinge, covered 300 towing miles during the week-end. On Saturday he was towed from Mangere to Waharoa, near Matamata, behind a Tiger Moth flown by an Auckland Aero Club pilot, Mr F. McKeever. There he gave a demonstration to members of the Piako Aero Club.

From Waharoa the sail plane was towed to Ruhakia, near Hamilton, where Mr Hardinge flew before a large crowd gathered for the Waikato Aero Club’s field day. At the end of the return flight to Mangere last evening, the sail plane was cast off at a height of 4000 feet from where it glided to the aerodrome.
