Sub-Branch Of Institute Of Electricians Formed
A sub-branch of the Grey district branch of the New Zealand Institute of Electricians was formed at Westport on Saturday evening, when a special meeting of the Grey district branch was held. Twelve electricians from the Westport district were among those present. Three films were screened after the meeting—“ Radar goes to Sea,” “The Heart of the Trolley-bus” and “Metro-vick,” the last-named showing the manufacture of the turbines for the Karapiro hydro-power station, transformers for the New Zealand grid system, and special electrical equipment for use in coal mines. Messrs D. Williams and L. N. Downes (Greymouth) and J. Walshe (Westport) will leave on Saturday for Napier where they will represent the Grey district branch at a conference of the New Zealand Institute.
