Argentina Dropping State Monopoly
(Recd. 1 p.m.) . . BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 25.
Argentina has decided to return at least part of its foreign trade to private business after experimenting for three years with State monopoly. Dr Roberto Ares, announcing the curtailment of the Argentine Trade Promotion Institute, said its function would in future be confined to buying the needs for Government agencies, the control of the sale abroad of the main Argentine farm products and the import for the public of only products difficult to handle commercially. A high Government official said the Government would buy everything possible from Britain and other European countries in order to avoid spending scarce dollars in the United States.
