RUGBY LEAGUE TROPHIES PRESENTED TO MEMBERS OF RUNANGA CLUB
Tfifere was a large attendance at? the wind-up dance of the Runanga Rugby League Club at the St John’s Hall. Dunollie, last evening. Trophies were presented to the following players:— G. Menzies (outstanding player), J. jOurragh (most 'improved back), R. Baxendale (most improved forward), H. Smeaton (most improved schoolboy). A medal, given by an annonymcus woman donor, was presented to J. Higson for good play, sportsmanship and service to the club. Members of the senior team presented a brush and comb set to the half-back, L. Sweetman, who has retired from football. Mr J. Newton accepted the trophy on behalf of Mr Sweetman. .
Mrs M. Kennedy, who has retired from her position as organiser of the women’s committee, was presented with a clock.
The trophies were presented by the president of the club, Mr T. Merriman, and the senior coach, Mr N. Griffiths. A former Runanga player contributed £lO towards the ground fund.
