£28,000 WORTH OF OPIUM

Workmen engaged in overhauling the British India •freighter, Chanda, found a suspicious bundle suspended in the funnel. Subsequently customs officers took possession of 3501 b of opium, worth about £28,000 on the Australian black market. This is the largest opium haul yet made at an Australian port.
