NEW ZEALANDER HAS CHANCE TO WIN THE KING’S PRIZE
(Rec. 12.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day
Officials expect the finish of the King’s Prize shoot today to be one of the closest on record. At the end of the second stage 25 riflemen still had winning chances. Queensland’s H. G. Hogarth maintained his lead by one point with an aggregate of 195 from a possible 200. The New Zealander, C. J. Nix, recovered splendidly in the second stage with two 49’s, making his total 192. Similar shooting today could give him the prize. The other New Zealanders, W. N. Masefield and A. H. O’Connell, are 22nd equal with 139 points. The strong Mosman Neutral Bay team (Sydney). 274, beat the Okawa team (New Zealand) by one point in the Sargard Shield teams’ match. Nix and Masefield were placed sixth and seventh in the T. B. Simpson shoot with 49 out of 50.
