FOURSOMES TITLE: SILK AND GLADING IN FOURTH PLAGE
MELBOURNE, October 10.
R. S. Brown and D. Bachli won the Australian foursomes golf championship at the Metropolitan links today, with rounds of 69 and 76. Their first round was only two off the course foursomes record of 67.
Brian Silk and R. H. Glading, the most successful New Zealand pair, Had rounds of 77 and 74, and finished in fourth place, one stroke ahead of J. P. Hornabrook and D. L. Woon, with 76 and 76. G. P. Roberts, the New Zealand golf team’s manager, and Alex Russell, a former Australian open champion, were well back in the field with rounds of 84 and 85. Scores were:— R. S. Brown and D. Bachli, 69, 76—145; W. A. Higgins and K. Pix, 74, 74—148; H. W. Hattersley and A. N. Waterson, 73, 76—149; B. M. Silk and R. H. Glading, 77, 74—151; J. Prendergast and P. Heard, 74, 77—151; W. D. Ackland-Horman and W. S. Rymill, 78, 74 —152; K. E. Enderby and T. Tanner, 78, 74—152; J. P. Hornabrook and D. L. Woon, 76. 76—152; H. R. Payne and P. W. Thomson, 76, 78— 154; W. A. Edgar and F. W. Gluth, 76, 78—154; G. P. Roberts and Alex Russell had rounds of 84 and 85 for 169.
