Women’s Institute

Kotuku W.l. The April meeting of the Kotuku Womne’s Institute was held in the school, Mrs Brereton presiding over a good attendance. One new member was welcomed. A letter was received from the link institute in. England. The West Coast Federation advised that the annual council meeting would be held on April 21, and Mesdames Dalzell and Brereton were appointed as delegates. The motto for the evening was “Hats off to the Past; coats off to the Future.” The winners of the competition were as follows:—Handwork, “Something new from something old,” Mrs Bell 1, Mrs Brereton and Mrs J. Malloy (equal) 2; vase of flowers, Mrs Dalzell 1, Mrs Williams and Mrs Brereton (equal) 2; wandering shilling, Mrs Williams; social competitions: Mrs W. Brereton and Mrs ■ Nestor. The entertainers for the social halfhour were Mesdames Nestor and Dalzell, and the hostesses were Mrs P. Brereton and Mrs J. Bell.
