FINANCIAL AID FROM OTAGO FOR MANGAKINO STRIKERS
(P.A.) DUNEDIN, This Day. Financial assistance for the strikers at Mangakino is to be given by workers in Otago and union and job meetings are being called to raise funds. Formal approval to this action was given by delegates at a meeting of the Otago Trades Council last night, when aspects of the dispute were discussed, and it was decided-to call on the council’s Otago affiliations to support the appeal for financial help. Already several meetings have been held in the Otago district on jobs closely associated with the Public Works Department and delegates from fjie Trades Council have addressed gatherings of workers. First indications, it is reported, are that considerable support will be given the strikers.
