Police Clash With Strikers In Brisbane
BRISBANE, This Day. The police used batons today in the first major clash with the strikers, when over 400 stinkers carrying antiHanlon placards and yelling “Heil Hitler Hanlon, the Fuehrer,” broke through a police cordon in a march through Brisbane streets to the Trades Hall. Pickets fought the police as the police seized the placards bearing Communist slogans, and batons were drawn. Several men were hit on the wrists when they refused to give up the placards. .. Neon signs on business premises were smashed during the- struggle, which ended with the strikers going into the Trades Hall.
