DUNEDIN PRAISED FOR FOSTERING OF FAMILY LIFE
(P.A.) DUNEDIN, This Day. “The citizens of Dunedin have been praised for their fostering of healthy family life. I can hardly think of a greater compliment to a people,” said Cardinal Gilroy, Archbishop of Sydney, when responding to a liturgical reception in St Joseph’s Cathedral last night. “Where family life is healthy, so also is the life of the community,” said his Eminence. “Most heartily I offer my congratulations to the people of Dunedin as a body for the grand example that they give to the whole nation.”
A movement to restore family life to its proper place had recently been undertaken in the United States, where a slogan had been propagated throughout the country affirming that “the family that prays is the family that stays.” Good healthy family life in Dunedin could be preserved in a very special manner by family prayer, said Cardinal Gilroy.
