Remarkable Escape Of Car Driver: Crossing Smash
P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A remarkable-escape from serious injury was experienced by the driver of a car which collided with the Christchurch-Pieton . express at Factory road, Belfast, at 8.48 this morning. The driver, who was the only occupant of the car, was Norman Trueman, a young returned serviceman, of 41 Ely street, Christchurch. Although the car was completely wrecked and carried to the other side of the road, Trueman suffered only, minor scratches, bruises and shock.' One wheel from the car jumped two fences and landed in a paddock three chains away. The train engine was disabled in the collision, steam cocks being knocked off the bottom of the cylinder. Another engine was called from Christchurch and the train resumed its journey7o minutes late.
