TRAGEDY OF AN ESTONIAN
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Through the name of Mr Kirill Nou on the passenger list of the Marine Phoenix, which arrived from San Francisco today a red line was drawn. Mr Nou, who is an Estonian farmer emigrating to Australia, disappeared from the ship on September 9, three days from Pago Pago. Passengers said his wife and three children were in Russian hands. “He used to sit about the deck a lot. He was a very quiet chap,” said Mr J. L. Ackerman, who shared a cabin with Mr Nou. He understood Mr Nou had not heard from his family for several years.
The ship was combed when Mr Nou was found to be missing, but no trace was discovered.
