T.U.C. Expects Further Cuts In Britain
(Rec. 10.55 a.tn.) LONDON, September 1. A special report by the Trades Union Congress General Council on the economic situation says it is inevitable that cuts further than those envisaged in Mr Attlee’s statement in the House of Commons will be necessary. The present position requires the congress to debate the matter with a full sense of realism. Immediately the congress ends contact will be made with the Government to get the clearest possible picture of the situation and to confer with the appropriate Ministers on the Government’s pians for meeting the position.
