RAIN RECORDINGS AT GREYMOUTH: AUGUST FIGURES
The amount of rain that fell at Greymouth during August was more than dive inches less than the total for August of'last year, though the number of ejays :on which rain fell was the same— ; 23. Last month 9.29 inches were recorded at. the south breakwater, while the recording was 8.29 inches at Karoro. Last August the total was 14.78 inches, which was the highest monthly total for that year. ’
The most rain to fall on any single day last month was 2.60 inches on August 5. The greatest single fall last'August was 2.26 inches. So far this year a total of 51.49 inches has fallen at Greymouth. This is, more .than 15 -inches under - last year’s figure and 25 inches less than the-total on - September T, 1945. Only . five days in August were without sunshine, the total for the month being 125.2 hours on 26 days. In five months, Greymouth has experienced just on 630 hours of sunshine. . .. j
