A batch of Wellington chickens, batched this week, lost no time in making their first flight. Aged only one day, 1000 chickens were yesterday transported by service plane from Wellington to a resident at Birchfield, Westport. # * «■. * *
Bad writing normally has no more serious after-affects than mild, and occasionally, bitter irritation to some other than the writer himself. A notable exception is recorded in Bland’s “Annals of Southport,” under the date August 15, 1862: “Mr Driffield, coroner, fined £lO by Mr Baron Wilde for bad writing. Some depositions sent to the Court were illegible and the learned'Judge treated it as contempt of Court.”
An effective excuse for declining an invitation to attend a film on erosion being displayed on the West Coast at present was advanced by a South Westland resident at Tuesday’s meeting of the Westland County Council. “I do not have to go to the pictures io see erosion,” he said. “I need only take a look at Dry creek, Tetahp. and that is enough to satisfy me.” —The Seeker
