WOMAN BURGLAR APPEARS IN SUPREME COURT

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. A young woman burglar, Eva Florence Fletcher, a quarter-caste Maori, appeared with Norman lan McEwen in the Supreme Court today for sentence for housebreaking and theft at Hamilton. They entered a house when the occupaats were absent and stole jewellery and other goods valued at £34. McEwen said he could take full responsibility as the girl “only followed his lead.” Mr Justice Callan remanded the prisoners for a week. His Honor commented that the young man let the girl go first into the house. He sent her on risky business trying to sell a stolen ring. When she was apprehended he was missing. Then he appeared in another offence at Gisborne and was caught. The question of declaring him an habitual criminal would have to be considered.
