EUROPEAN COUNTRIES AGREE ON SELF-HELP
(Recd. 11 a.m.) PARIS, Aug. 12. The 16 countries represented in the committee for European economic co-operation would be able to achieve a reasonable amount of “positive selfhelp,” even if no United States aid was forthcoming under the Marshall plan, said the committee’s chairman, Sii' Olive Franks. He added that, there were few differences of opinion because the delegates realised the seriousness of Europe’s economic plight. The committee had stuck mainly to economics and had avoided politics.
