GAS ACCOUNTS
COMPLAINTS BY CONSUMERS REPORTED QUESTION TO MANAGER At the monthly meeting of the Greymouth Borough Council last r ight, Cr. Blanchfield said that he ha l received complaints from gas consumers concerning the size of their accounts, and he asked the gas manager (Mr. A. J. Fairmaid) if there was something wrong with the meter reading, or if the quality of the gas was poorer. He suggested that the length of time the gas appliances took to heat up might have something to do-with the size of the accounts. Mr. Fairmaid said that he knew there were cases where the meters were due for overhaul, but the quality of the gas was the same as previously. The low pressure would have only a small effect, as the low pressure period was comparatively small. In reply to Cr. Boustridge, Mr. Fairmaid said that there was still a period of low pressure in the mornings. - .
